About Alison

Alison lives in the inner of Johannesburg and is often inspired by the people of the city, their energy and constant activity.

Her work is largely figurative and is often influences by the opinions of the people in the street.
Her artwork is very graphic and urban: this can be attributed to the qualification in Graphic Design that she received from Southgate Technical College in London (1990) and her love for comic books, graphic novels and graffiti.

Alison is also strongly influenced by pop art, with artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichenstein, Sam Nhlengethwa and CJ Morkel.
Alison studied  fine art at Wits Technikon (University of Johannesburg) from 1991 – 1994.
