End of an era for city's former taxi operators
Drivers trade in old minibuses for majority shares in new transport system

When taxi operator Sipho Khanyi first heard of the Rea Vaya bus rapid transit (BRT) system, he was agn anist it. "When the was introduced to us,  we wavent used to it , "khanyi explained yesterday ."If you take my taxi away from me , how will get paid?" And yet , It was one of Kanyi's taxis that was the first to scrapped yesterday  to mark BRT milestone:66.7 percent majority ownership snd management of phase 1A of  the  Rea Vaya system by former taxi operators. It was a bitter sweet moment for a man who had dedcated 20 years of his life to the taxi industry
