Friday night. Here it is:
Ticket fury flare-up
Train passengers, angry because their tickets were found to be fakes, set their carriage on fire and caused R12 million damage.
About 50 passengers were found with fake and invalid tickets by Metrorail staff at Irene train station yesterday evening.
Mertorail procedure dictacts anyone found with an invalid ticket should be charged an extra R40 to board the train.
Some passengers paid the fine and boarded at Irene.
But as the train passed between the Kaalfontein and Oakmoore stations, near Tembisa, about 10.30pm, they set their carriage alight.
