Giant rats make woman’s life hell
This Cape Flats woman has challenged Premier Helen Zille and President Jacob Zuma to spend a night in her rat-infested home.
Langa resident Eunice Patiwe, 62, says the rodents have made her life hell for three decades.
“The hostel I live in is home to eight families. More than 20 people are here and as if we don’t have enough worries, now we have to lose sleep over rats,” says Eunice
“We have to make sure we are all covered with layers of blankets so we don’t get bitten.”
She says if the rats don’t feast on your face then they go for your food, even if it is sealed in plastic containers.
“We have thrown out so many dishes which have been damaged by rats,” she says.
When the Daily Voice visited the Langa hostel we found a massive dead rat slumped over a wheelie bin.
The cat-sized rodent was poisoned by Eunice.
