Man gets 46 years for killing wives

The Mdantsane Magistrate's Court in the Eastern Cape has sentenced an East London man to 46 years in jail for the murder of his two wives.


An East London man was sentenced by the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court in the Eastern Cape to 46 years in jail for the murder of his two wives, it was reported on Tuesday.

Fifty-six-year-old Sipho Phobana was convicted on Monday for beating and stabbing Ntombizanele Njobe and Nonzima Mani to death on February 14, the SABC reported.

During his testimony Phobana said he was angry with his wives after R6 000 that he had saved for his mother's funeral went missing.

He argued with his wives and then chased them outside before assaulting them with a panga and a stick.

The incident reportedly occurred in front of his nine-year-old son
