Hawks in secret arms deal trip to UK, Sweden
The Police Ministry and the Hawks were tight-lipped yesterday on plans to send two law enforcement officers abroad to access information on alleged corruption related to South Africa's multibillion-rand arms deal.
The two Hawks investigators were told to informally approach relevant authorities in Sweden (the Swedish National Anti-Corruption Unit) and the UK (Serious Fraud Office) to assess information to determine whether there's a criminal case to be answered in South Africa.
The plot thickens.
